The Power of Pink

When we freshened up our logo we decided on shocking pink for the new colour. In order to ensure that this colour becomes well and truly established we are in the process of redecorating our reception areas. The work is paintwork is being done by our favorite 'resident' decorator Reg Wilson.

Once the paintwork is completed we will fitting new carpets and some interesting robot images should complete the look. We anticipate that the work will be completed by the end of January 2019,  scary to think that 2019 will be our 32nd year of business and our 28th year at Trinity House on Green Lane...

If you have visited the studio you will know the colours and the new look may give you quite a suprise...but if you haven't visited us, then why not come along, we'd be delighted to show you around.

Just give us a call on 01332 291141 and we'll look forward to seeing you very soon!

Metal Guru, is it You?

It has been a long time coming, but when Harris RCS engaged us to look at thier new website we felt that they needed a complete update for all the branding. After all, why spend money on a website and place a poorly designed old fashioned logo on it?

So, we devised this new look for both the corporate branding and the new website. The combination is quite striking and has helped to give Harris a confident and impressive customer facing web presence.

To visit the site click here, or if you wish to talk to us about your brand or website, why not visit our website to find out more, or call us on 01332 291141 and we will be happy to discuss your project.

Golfing Blast From The Past

Way back in the day...(or in fact back in the 1990s) We did a lot of creative for Ron Harris the CEO of Baron Systems. Some of you may recall Golf Agent and the Baron suite of booking systems.

Last month I was in Leeds for a meeting and purely on the off-chance I texted Ron to see if he fancied a game of golf. After some funny stealth text messages I was lucky enough to get to play a round with him and his wife Rita at Headingley Golf Club.

We had a great game and it was really fun to catch up with them both. Brought back fond memories of the many WITs golf days and the MK Cup.

Thanks to Ron and Rita for the game I look forward to reciprocating soon...

If you are an old colleague or just fancy a game of golf then please contact us on 01332 291141 and we can arrange a game.

How do you get people to stop at your exhibition stand...?

Show them the money...!

There are some questions that are perpetually asked of designers and marketing professionals:

"please tell me who has looked at my website"
"why do I need to spend so much money on design"
"how do I generate more sales"
"how do I get people to look at my product"

The list goes on...

Eckoh came up with a quirky way to get people to stop on their stand - MONEY!

"Excuse me, have you dropped some money?"

Its a great opening line and one that invariably gets a conversation going...we produced some mock dollar bills and stirling notes to help create this opportunity. Simple graphics combined with some pure messaging allows the Eckoh event team to open dialogue.

Not only that but the concept was tweeted by industry press - almost to the viral stage...which can't be bad!

A proven way to get to people - give them cold hard cash!

To find out how we can help you to gain more customers give us a call on 01332 291141 now!

The Butcher's Arms - a subtle new look

One of our absolute favorite clients is the Butcher's Arms restaurant in Priors Hardwick. This high end establishment has been serving great food since the early 70s and we have been helping them since 2008.

Recently the restaurant was acquired by Nuno Correia and his wife Allison. Nuno is well known to past guests as a member of the Butchers Arms team and we are proud to be helping him to refresh the brand. Eight years ago we helped previous owner Peter Pires to successfully update the brand.  With Nuno and Allison's help we have just refreshed the look and feel, ensuring that the Butcher's stay at the forefront in terms of creativity, look and feel.

The new collateral comprises a set of brand new menu styles (illustrated) a new website (to be launched in early 2017) and a subtly updated logo.

Sometimes all you need is an evolution to your brand. We believe that redesign for design's sake is not always a viable investment.  We'd rather help you to benefit from tangible revenue. This is our usual approach and we often challenge clients who simply want a new logo. It could be said that we are "not just about pretty pictures" but rather about building a business relationship that creates income and genuine ROI.

If your company is in need of a rebrand then give us a call  - we may advise against it! However if we think it will benefit your business then we will be delighted to help you.

Whoops there goes another rubber tree...

In the last century, in December 1988 to be precise, Parkhouse Evans moved to Sycamore Avenue in Allestree (some of you will have visited "The Radius",  a 30' semi circular extension built onto the back of the house, which served as the studio before we moved to Green Lane).

Well back then our new neighbour Nigel Yockney came over with a small gift, namely a small rubber plant - around 2' tall. Well, as you can see that very plant is now some 6' tall and STILL thriving in 2016!

The plant lives in our rear reception area, which has just been refurbished and now has a home to be proud of!

A 28 year old rubber plant - its about time we gave it a name - maybe Nigel, or Yockkers, or Stretch - your ideas by email please!!!

Just Another Christmas Movie....

Yes, its that time of the year when we try to sort out some Christmas collateral - and this year we produced this rather eye-catching video sting for Denmaur.

Along with a topical soundtrack and seasonal images, this simple little movie can be added to emails, websites, and just about any social media site.

If you'd like a similar job, just give us a call on 01332 291141 and we'll be happy to have a chat about how this could help your business.

Before and (almost) after...

If, like me, you love before and after images then you'll appreciate this.

We were asked by the directors of the Waterfront pub to comment on their current website. After some consideration this is what we concluded:

The Waterfront  is a pub that does food with a restaurant...so why try to be anything else – it does good food in a unique pub setting...

The tone of voice for the venue should be evident in the copy / imagery / content on the site – the current site has poor visual content. From a purely professional perspective our comments are below.

  • the logo is not even the proper logo – this immediately dilutes the brand
  • the font usage throughout is inconsistent – in terms of size, style and readability
  • the social media icons at the bottom of the pages are way too large the images used throughout the site look as if they are poorly considered in terms of size and placement (eg cocktails)
  • The Weddings section would not make me want to come to even visit the venue -
  • Overall it just looks and feels amateurish
Other team member comments: Does not inspire, very samey, low res images, looks like a home made wordpress / wix site, does not reflect the venue or the quality, site has no atmosphere, feels cheap, it has no personality.

On the plus side – we all felt that the content is really good – tells you when its open – we like the wedding gallery – it works on a mobile (albeit the same rules apply) it has all the ingredients to be a great site but lacks a professional look and feel.

The upshot of all of this is that we were then asked to re-design the site (in Wordpress) and our fist attempt looks like the design you see above. We think its a good start to what will be an on-going project...

If you have a website that you'd like us to review, then please just give us a call on 01332 291141 and we can discuss your requirements.

The Crow's Nest - The Ideal Venue

When the Waterfront pub asked us to help develop a 'Weddings' brochure we were delighted to help.

The result is this unusually sized booklet style brochure.

The cover has capacity and is die cut to allow for a letter and business card to be included. Photography comes form a range of sources, but our favorites are by Lois Webb who did the food shots inside the brochure.

The cover has a lovely soft touch laminate which really enhances the feel of the brochure.

If your brochure is looking tired or you just fancy a change why not give us a call on 01332 291141 and we can have a chat about how we can help you.

A Design on Olympic Legacy

We were asked by Westfield Group to develop a high quality / upmarket brochure based around the AWRC, Sheffield's Olympic Legacy project. We worked closely with an enthusiastic team at Westfield to deliver this project on time and on budget.

The design comprises a 20 page brochure, digitally printed with a translucent belly band in gold and matching branded black envelopes.

What helps makes this piece really special is the time it took to create and quality of the finished print. It was turned around in less than 14 days form inception to delivery.

If your organisation needs help with image, or a new brochure then give us a call on 01332 291141 and we will be happy to help.

The Why Der Cup - aka - PEcreative Golf Challenge

This month we had our inaugural golf day - held at the most prestigious Markeaton Park pitch and putt course. This 1600 yard beast brough us all to our knees...with super impossible greens and rough up to our thighs we took on this challenge with gusto...

Due to the conditions it was hard to determine a winner (Jonny!) but the afternoon was time well spent 'smelling the roses'.

A hole in one prize of £15 was on offer but nobody managed it.

Shot of the day: went to Viv for her 'chip in' on the first. Sadly it was not a sign of things to come!

Best dressed golfer: was Carolyn

Best Tee shot: Ben

Best Ex Miss Derby to swing a club : Jo

Wooden Spoon: Jonny

Best bloke left back at the ranch: Rich

If you would like to help fund the next PE Golf Day then give us a call and we can tell you how on 01332 291141, on the other hand if you want some lovely graphics, digital media or web you know where to come to too!

There's stitching....

...and there's PE creative stitching.
When I comes to branded apparel you can trust us to provide the best. What most people don't realise is that a stitched logo relies upon a number of factors to look really good.

Firstly the garment has to be high quality to get the best effect.
The fabric is key to this and must be of a certain quality. Not too stretchy is best.

Secondly, the digitisation process has to be perfect. This means that the stitch count can be high. The higher the stitch count the better the finished effect.
You know that feeling when the logo appears to be almost three dimensional - each logo can use up to 500 meters of thread.

So next time you want to brand your apparel why not give us a call on 01332 291141 and we can give you the best advice...

All good things come to an end

It is with fondness that in 2015 we bade farewell to BBC's Downtown Abbey...

But that is not all we say goodbye to in 2015. We will also wave goodbye to the 'old' Parkhouse Evans logo - we will be introducing our new corporate identity during early 2016.

The old ID has served us well for nearly 10 years but it is now time to more on to pastures new. So, we are currently building a new website, we already have new stationery and business cards. Its all very exciting...

If you received our Christmas card last year you will have been given a sneak preview of our new logo (on the back page). It has been designed to reflect the digital nature of our work. We can use it in any colour and with any ident, reversed out or in keyline - truly flexible, truly digital.

Talking of the cards, take a look at a small selection of our new business cards - these are made using a beautiful 100% cotton rich stock, with a special colour sandwiched between the white outer. You'll be given a massive selection of cards to choose from - just pick your favorite! They really do look and feel ultra cool...

We really do love what we do here...and we want to help you to get the best from new technology and creative opportunities. Call us now on 01332 92114 to find out how we can help you.
